The ATXgossip crew loves sharing the work of the Best Austin Bloggers and Influencers. We’ve already chatted with a slew of fashionistas, travel bloggers, writers… and we’re nowhere near done! This week we’re introducing you to Carla Taylor of Carla Taylor Beauty
Carla Taylor is a makeup artist and photographer who encompasses all aspects of beauty. She started blogging eight years ago but has been doing makeup for well over 14 years! Originally from Maryland, Carla has been living in Austin for the last three years. Her vision and style is so unique, we’re glad she chose to call Austin home.
She may be based in Austin but her work is international. Forbes, Cannes Film festival, Vanity Fair, The Root and many others have featured her work.
“I have a passion for working with entrepreneurs who want to stand out amongst their peers. I create pop-color imaging and high-end portraits so that business owners get recognized on a larger scale.”

Just as we do with celebs, we asked Carla some of our Totally Texan questions, as well as a few ATX-tra things.
What’s your favorite Austin shot movie or TV show?
My favorite show filmed in Austin has to be The Walking Dead!
Who is your favorite Texas band/ musician?
Torre Blake, I actually photographed her for one of her projects! She is awesome; check her out!
What actor would you classify as “totally Texan”?
Matthew McConaughey embodies everything a Texas gent should be – has nothing to do with color. It is more about how he treats all people (just an amazing human – his wife as well)! If people need a reference on how to treat others that do not look like them, look at him.
Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Ask me when I’m 90. Still taking auditions. (Laughs)
What advice do you have for Austinites looking to be successful in social media?
Networking, being kind and posting frequently are all important!
What can white creatives do to increase the black creative voice?
Show support, be open to listening and share your platform. There is room for everyone at the top. It should be less about race and more about talent.
Your philosophy on life?
Treat others the way you want to be treated. There is a such thing as color- we see it everyday. However, if we have vital conversations about race, teach our children that we are to love and respect each other regardless of skin color, educate ourselves about what others go through by reading books, etc, we can change views for generations to come.
