Spider-Man

I saw an early screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and I have a few things to say. No spoilers! This latest flick in the Marvel franchise proves that the studio still knows exactly how to deliver a superhero movie for every type of fan.

As someone who falls into the “entertainment first” camp, I’ll admit it—I think Marvel continues to do this better than DC for the average moviegoer. That’s not to say die-hard comic fans won’t have opinions, but if you’re looking for a fun, emotional, edge-of-your-seat experience, Brand New Day absolutely delivers.

The Best Spider-Man Yet?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially my favorite Spider-Man movie. Well, at least may favorite of this era. As a Gen X-er, it’s hard to compare to the original Tobey Maguire flick. But this is whole other thing.

The film embraces classic Spidey elements while allowing Peter Parker to grow into a more mature version of the beloved character. The web-swinging sequences are easily some of the best we’ve seen on screen, capturing the excitement and freedom that fans expect from Spider-Man.

Tom Holland also gives what may be his strongest performance yet. His voice delivery, comedic timing and emotional range feel effortless, making this version of Peter both relatable and believable. After watching Brand New Day, it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role. Holland has joked that he can’t play Spider-Man forever—but I’d be perfectly happy if he did.

Marvel Nails the Balance

One of Marvel’s greatest strengths has always been balancing action with storytelling, and Brand New Day is another perfect example.

The action scenes are visually stunning without overstaying their welcome. Every fight serves the story instead of existing just for spectacle. The pacing never drags, and the movie keeps audiences engaged from beginning to end.

There are also plenty of satisfying callbacks for longtime Marvel fans, along with connections to familiar characters and the larger Marvel universe that feel earned instead of forced.

Tom Holland and Zendaya Still Have Incredible Chemistry

Even with the changes to Peter Parker’s world, one thing hasn’t changed: Tom Holland and Zendaya remain one of Hollywood’s most charming on-screen duos. They continue to be the cutiest patootiest couple!

Their chemistry shines through every scene they share, proving that some connections transcend memory. Their interactions are sweet, funny and emotional, adding another layer of heart to the film. And don’t get me started on their red carpet and social media appearances. I am officially a Tom and Zendaya Stan!

Just look how cute they are at the London premiere.

Overall Thoughts on Spider-Man: Brand New Day

It’s everything I want from a Spider-Man movie and more. It honors the character’s comic book roots while continuing Peter Parker’s evolution into a more mature hero. The humor lands, the action is spectacular, the emotional moments feel genuine and Marvel once again reminds audiences why its cinematic universe is better than the other guys.

For me, this one earns a 10 out of 10.
