Kirsten Dunst’s newest film Civil War is set to premiere at SXSW. It screens on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre and Dunst will be in attendance. That’s not all. Co-stars Wagner Moura and Cailee Spaeny will be there too!

Though he’s not listed as attending, Dunst’s husband Jesse Plemons appears in the film as well. This isn’t the first time the couple have shared the screen. In fact, the couple first met in 2016 on the set of the FX series Fargo and went on to get married in 2022. In between those years, they had two kids, moved to Austin and acted together in the 12-time Oscar nominated film The Power of the Dog.

Here’s more about the film Civil War!

Synopsis: In the near future, a team of journalists travel across the United States during a rapidly escalating civil war that has engulfed the entire nation, between the American government and the separatist “Western Forces” led by Texas and California. The film documents the journalists struggling to survive during a time when the government has become a dystopian dictatorship and partisan extremist militias regularly commit political violence.

Watch the trailer below:

Controversial topics aside, it’s not often that we see Dunst in such a serious role let alone a project that isn’t more indie. We can’t wait to see her take on this role. Plemons who isn’t actually credited but appears in the trailer seems to be playing the bad guy, which he’s done before and frighteningly well. We really want to know the story behind those red tinted glasses he’s wearing in the trailer. The most unexpected surprise, however, is Nick Offerman is playing the president of the United States! You can see the movie when it hits theaters April 12, 2024.
