Celebrities at SXSW 2022

SXSW never disappoints on the celebrity front and this year was no exception. If you’ve been following us you know that each year we publish a massive list highlighting the celebrities at SXSW.

Since SXSW aligns with spring break, it seems that some of the local celebrities were not in town for the festival. Though we saw Camila McConaughey the day before the fest started, we heard her mention a flight as she was departing the Female Founders Collective event. That would explain the absence of any Matthew McConaughey sightings as well. We later noticed a sighting of the couple in New York posted in a Deux Moi story.

Jensen Ackles made appearances at the panel and party for the Amazon Prime series The Boys, but by the end of the week, he had posted pictures of the family at Disney World.

We didn’t get any sightings of former co-star Jared Padalecki or his wife Gen. But, new mom Becca Tobin spoke at the same event as Ms. McConaughey as well as a Create & Cultivate session during the first weekend. She was also spotted at Clive Bar later in the week with fellow podcaster Jac Vanek.

Now, let’s talk about other celeb sightings at SXSW 2022, starting with a former well known Austinite.

Here are our top sightings of celebrities at SXSW 2022!

Sandra Bullock returned to the ATX to attend the premiere of her film The Lost City, as did co-star Daniel Radcliffe.

Bob Odenkirk and his son Nate Odenkirk introduced their Audible series Summer in Argyle with a hot dog feast at Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden.

While Donald Glover did not make an appearance at The Trip: An Atlanta Cafe experience, he did walk the red carpet for the new season’s premiere.

At the Amazon Prime “Superheroes and Superstars” Experience, Jensen Ackles’ co-stars Chace Crawford and Jessie Usher also popped up on site as did Lizzo (she took part in a panel as well)!

Eric Nelsen from 1883 was at the Fort Worth house. Learn more about that experience here.

Charlotte Flair and Stephanie McMahon spoke about changes in the WWE at the Blockchain Creative Labs space.

Ben McKenzie, best known as Ryan Atwood on The OC, spoke about Crypto.

Dermot Mulroney attended in support of the film The Cow.

Jonathan Van Ness hosted a JVN Hair pop-up.

Shawn Mendes played at Waterloo Park on Saturday but was spotted out and about in Austin all week long!

Following the red carpet premiere of Swimming With Sharks, Diane Kruger, Kiernan Shipka, Ross Butler, Finn Jones, Thomas Dekker, Gerardo Celasco and Kathleen Robertson all attended the after party at The Line Hotel. Also in attendance was Jennifer Morrison.

It was previously reported that Pete Davidson would attend in support of the film Bodies Bodies Bodies, however that did not come to pass. Lee Pace and Maria Bakalova attended in support of the film though.

We chatted with Austinite T.J. Linnard who plays Evan on Good Trouble at Ray Benson’s birthday party at GSD&M.

Paris Hilton and Paris Jackson both played events. Hilton DJd at Green Light Social while Jackson played a few official SXSW showcases.

Willie Nelson and sons Lukas and Micah played a series of shows out at Luck Ranch.

But the biggest sighting for us was Dolly Parton! Parton and James Patterson chatted with Connie Britton about their novel “Run Rose Run.” Her first ever SXSW appearance was made possible by FOX Entertainment’s NFT studio, Blockchain Creative Labs. The event was streamed on the blockchain and launched “Dollyverse,” an audience-centric Web3 experience that promoted both the novel and its companion music album. While we’re sure there were many well known faces in the crowd, those we spotted were Kendra Scott and Adrianne Palicki.
