At Season 12 of the ATX Television Festival, Outlander star Caitriona Balfe took part in an opening day panel with Executive Producer Maril Davis. The duo touched on a plethora of topics and storylines regarding seasons one through seven of the smash series.
But our favorite thing Balfe said came when moderator Reshma Gopaldas asked if she has any advice for Claire and Jamie Fraser.
Jesus, the codependency
Caitriona Balfe
She went on to say that they (she and Sam Heughan) have a running joke where if one of them are off to the bathroom the other will say, “Wait, Sassenach, I love you. Will you ever come back?” Of course, the other simply replies, “Yeah, I’m just going for a pee.”
Here’s her full response, which did include a bit of seriousness.
“Maybe they just need to take a couple breaths. They need to learn the toddler thing where if you see a toddler having a melt down or you’re getting too frustrated, count to 10 and step out of the room and come back again.”
The moderator had a great comeback to Balfe’s codependency comment saying that the couple had 20 years apart, so the codependency is understandable.
