During SXSW 2023, Renee Zellweger took part in not one but two music showcases. That’s because her pal and Love and a .45 director CM Talkington just put out an album and RZ is on it!
The Oscar winner sings alongside Talkington on the song “Two Steps.” About the album, Zellweger says, “The songs are an authentic and raw celebration of life and hope made in the great Austin tradition of gathering with friends to make music for the joy of it, and it feels like home.“
She definitely appeared at home during SXSW 2023. In case you aren’t aware, Zellweger hails from Katy, Texas and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to appearing in Love and a .45, she appeared in Austin shot films Dazed and Confused and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation before heading to Hollywood.
Of course, she’s no stranger to busting out a tune on screen. RZ sings in the films Chicago, Judy, and our personal fave, Empire Records.
Director Mike Pellington says the “Two Steps” video showcases the true to life friendship and vocal chemistry between two great friends, Carty Talkington and Renée Zellweger. “Two friends in cinema and in song, the music film is a tale of these two, a melancholy ditty, a swinging country twang full of memory, longing and sunsets to die for,” he said,
