While we’ve been practicing social distancing from people we’re becoming closer than ever with our televisions and we couldn’t help but notice the amount of Matthew McConaughey movies that are currently streaming. It’s no secret that the ATXgossip team is a big fan of Mr. Texas, so we thought we’d share our love by sharing some of our favorite movies.

This week’s McConaughey Movie Monday pick is Surfer Dude!

Surfer Dude (2008) 

Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Jeffrey Nordling, Alexie Gilmore, Sarah Wright, Zachary Knighton and Willie Nelson as Uncle Bob.

Synopsis:Surfer, Dude is the story of Steve Addington, a soul-searching surfer who experiences an existential crisis when no waves come for over a month. While he the waves are not arriving, producers are trying to get him to join a reality show. He refuses joining the show because his main focus is surfing and he keeps searching for the waves along the coast of California. The waves end up coming back a month later.

Fun Facts!

Not only is Austinite Willie Nelson in the cast, there’s also a blink and you’ll miss it appearance by McConaughey’s wife Camila Alves McConaughey.

According to Wikipedia, Woody Harrelson claims the film is the most “non-work” he has ever done. McConaughey and Harrelson also appeared together in EDtv and HBO’s True Detective.

Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a rating of 0% based on reviews from 18 critics. But, let be honest, no one is watching this movie for its quality storytelling or filmmaking. We are watching it for this…
