Here’s the tea on everything Miranda Lambert did while she was in Austin

Miranda Lambert is no stranger to Texas, she was born in Longview and raised in Lindale. While she spends most of her time in Nashville these days, she was recently in Austin. And, as the saying goes, you can take the girl out of Texas but you can’t take Texas out of the girl.

Lambert came to Austin for The Texas Medal of Arts Awards! But before that, she enjoyed Sunday Funday and Taco Tuesday in the ATX. She even took time to write two songs with Waco native Wade Bowen. Apparently the duo was able to made George Strait rhyme with Chicken Fried Steak. We can’t wait to hear that one!

Based on her Instagram post, it looks like Lambert spent some time with friends and family out on the lake, sipping coffee, watching turtles and more!

After Lambert Taco Tuesday’d she headed to the Long Center as a Texas Cultural Trust honoree at the Texas Medal of Arts Awards. The event raises money to support the arts in education and cultural heritage. In addition to receiving a medal for Music/Songwriter, Lambert performed a few songs including two tunes from The Marfa Tapes. CollaboratorsJack Ingram and Jon Randall joined her for the performance. We actually got the chance to talk to the country superstar on the carpet. She struggled with our Beyonce or Lizzo question, ultimately deciding on Queen B, but it was the follow up that really put her in a pickle! When we asked her to choose between Willie Nelson and George Strait, she refused to pick one. Can’t say we blame her!
