Every two years, the Texas Cultural Trust honors powerhouse Texans from the world of film, music and dance at the Texas Medal of Arts Awards. This year’s event featured some exciting artists that you will definitely recognize.

Here’s who we chatted with at The Texas Medal of Arts Awards!

The singer best known for his song “Sailing” received the medal for music. Depending on your age, you may not recognize the singer/ songwriter. But, you most likely remember the episode of Friends that references one of his songs: “Arthur’s Theme.”

Luke Wilson

Dallas native Luke Wilson received the medal for Film/Actor. We asked him our this or that Texas questions on the carpet and we were surprised by his choice between Beyonce and Lizzo.

It was a joy chatting with Miranda Lambert on the carpet and though she struggled with the Beyonce/ Lizzo question, she ultimately decided on Queen B. However, when we asked her to choose between Willie Nelson and George Strait, she refused!

Lambert received the medal for Music/Songwriter.

Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima

On our way into the show we spotted Austinites Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima. You may recognize him from his many years as host of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. And you may recognize her from Entertainment Tonight as well as other hosting gigs.

Taylor Sheridan

We didn’t actually get to speak with Taylor Sheridan – though if we had we definitely would’ve asked him about the Yellowstone Matthew McConaughey rumors. We did get to see him up close and personal on the carpet though. Sheridan received the medal for Film/Producer.

Make sure you’re following us on Instagram and TikTok because there will be many more sightings happening in the next month with the Texas Film Awards, SXSW, Dell Match Play and more happening in the ATX this spring.
