What We’re Watching – Formula 1: Drive to Survive

With so many films and TV show out there, it can be a little overwhelming to keep up with everything. That’s where we come in. We’re spilling the tea on what you need to watch!

Here’s the tea on what we’re watching this week: Formula 1: Drive to Survive (Season 5)

Synopsis: Offering unprecedented access, this new season will once again take fans behind the scenes, to witness first-hand how the drivers and teams prepare to battle it out for the 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The series will offer never-before-seen footage and interviews from the sport’s biggest names.

Where to watch: Netflix

Texas Tie-In: Sadly, Austin was not featured in Season 4. However, the USGP in Austin is featured this season in episode nine. It would be hard to omit it as it was where the Red Bull spending cap drama came to a head. It’s also where the team was when co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz passed away. And, it’s where the Red Bull team clinched the constructors’ championship. Want to know what celebs were out at COTA for the 2022 race? We’ve got them all here.

Thoughts:

My favorite thing about going behind the scenes is not only seeing the drama, but also seeing the camaraderie and more personal moments. I love the way they humanize the drivers. You get to know so much more about them, as well as the principals and even some family and friends (do we see a WAG spinoff in the future?). Even when you know what’s going to happen in the season, it’s still exciting to watch it all play out. Plus, those racing scenes are exhilarating. My dad thinks the show it boring. My dad is wrong!
