The original Mean Girls premiered 20 years ago (I did a double take and had to check that date) and a cultural phenomenon was born. Fast forward to today and Tina Fey has penned the script for a third time (both films and the hit Broadway musical).

Did the Mean Girls musical need to be turned into a movie? Probably not. Did I enjoy the movie? Absolutely!

The cast is littered with stars from both the original film and the Broadway show and does enough to draw in fans of both to this modern interpretation. A major difference from the original film is that this film is narrated from the point of view of Janis and Damien which gives a nice little twist to the adaptation. All the musical and dance numbers are catchy and entertaining and make you want to tap your toes.

Overall, if you’re a fan of the original, you’ll enjoy this movie!

Here’s What You Need to Know About Mean Girls

Though you couldn’t tell from the trailer, this is the musical version of the original film.
