Our friends at @sxrumors have made an interesting discovery. Kanye West could be coming to SXSW!
Initially, they posted this.
And then there was this follow up. According to their tweet, the city of Austin has CONFIRMED that they received a permit application for a Sunday church service at Republic Square Park during SXSW 2022. The city has not confirmed it’s Kanye West but are “working with the organizer to understand the scope of their plans.”
Here’s what we know:
- Kanye West has a history of surprise SXSW appearances (here’s a flashback to that time he showed up at a Perez Hilton party).
- Pete Davidson and Kid Cudi will be promoting movies at the fest.
- Kanye is supposed to drop his new album “Donda 2” on February 22.
Additionally, we know that the three-part documentary jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy is airing on Netflix. Act one is currently streaming. Act two and three are set to stream on February 23 and March 2, respectively. Maybe a surprise Act four will be announced at SXSW?
Sounds likely – as does an appearance from Kim Kardashian West.
