If you want a guaranteed celebrity sighting in Austin, get your tickets to the Texas Film Awards! This year, the Austin Film Society is honoring Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez and that’s not all. Here’s everything we know about this year’s show so far.
What to expect at the 25th Anniversary of the Texas Film Awards!
As mentioned, AFS is honoring Michelle Rodriguez for her significant contributions to the advancement of the Texas film and creative media industry. The award will be presented by Robert Rodriguez who worked with Rodriguez on Alita: Battle Angel, Machete Kills and Machete. We actually met the Lost star at the Machete event in Austin in 2010 where other celebrities were in attendance. Flashback to that night here.
That’s not the only awqard being presented at this year’s Texas Film Awards. Creator and director of FX’s Fargo Noah Hawley will also be honored while Alamo Drafthouse founders Tim League and Karrie League will be inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Former Austinite Elijah Wood will present the Leagues with their award. Other presenters will be announced at a later date.
The event takes place on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Austin’s Distribution Hall. This year’s honorary hosts are Odette & Dave Annable, Shana Feste & Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Rachel & Mike Jackson and Jamie-Lynn Sigler & Cutter Dykstra.
