Fans are abuzz with the news that Practical Magic 2 is happening. We were so excited, we just had to re-watch the original. And as we were viewing we couldn’t help but wonder about the real life filming locations. So, we put together this list.
Here are the filming locations for Practical Magic!
The hit film starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock is set in New England but actually filmed in Washington State. Coupeville on Whidbey Island to be exact. Downtown may look a bit different since the buildings were painted white for the film.
- Sally’s shop, Verbena Botanicals was actually The Little Red Hen Bakery.
- The Catch and Fry is actually local favorite Toby’s Tavern.
- The farmers market shown in the movie was shot in downtown Coupeville.
- Lesher’s Hardware Store scenes were shot at the Benson Confectionery building, which is now the site of Kingfisher Books.
- The scene where Sally runs down the hill headed to town was filmed at a trail leading to the Town Park.
The filming location you’d probably most like to visit is the Victorian-style mansion that’s home to the Owens family. Sadly, it was just a prop. It was constructed for the production in San Juan Island, Washington. Interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage in Los Angeles.
Want to really re-live the magic of the film? Why not host an outdoor movie night this fall and screen the flick on a portable projector? Just remember to beware of beetles!
