I happened to catch an interview with Sandra Bullock about her new movie The Proposal on Access Hollywood earlier this week. Billy Bush pointed out that they had cookies flown in from Austin, Texas, especially for the interview. I assume they came from Bullock’s new bakery Waltons Fancy and Staple. The newest Walton’s location is at 609 West Sixth Street.

The pre-1900s building has been renovated and complements her other high-profile, Bullock-owned Austin properties. These include the 1918 Stratford Arms building across West Sixth Street from Walton’s that houses Bullock’s restaurant, Bess Bistro, and the building at 400 Nueces St. where Mellow Johnny‘s is located. Mellow Johnny’s, of course, is the bicycle shop that Lance Armstrong owns. The original Walton’s Florist & Nursery location can be found at 5604 Bee Cave Road… and we believe she also owns the building occupied by Joe’s Bar and Grill on West Ave.

“The acting is to fund what I do here in Austin,” Bullock told the Austin American Statesman.

The Statesma
n also reports that for the food at Walton’s Fancy and Staple, Bullock’s writer/ professional baker sister Gesine Bullock-Prado came from Vermont to consult. Walton’s food services include catering, deli meats and cheeses, fresh-baked breads, pastries such as macaroons and croissants from $1.25 to $3, sandwiches starting at $5.50, soups and a grab-and-go menu developed with Bess chef Mizael Saucedo. A full coffee menu includes espressos and lattes from $2.25 to $3.85.

Early reviews seemed to be mixed. Click HERE to review.

Yelp lists the hours as: Monday through Sunday from 6am to 8pm but you may want to call (512-542-3380) before hitting up the new location since I was told food is only served until 3pm when I popped in on a Sunday around 5pm.

Their website doesn’t list any official info as of yet.

Bullock also talks about Austin in the June cover story of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

“I don’t do Cali so well,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar, “even though Los Angeles has been great for me, careerwise. When we’re here, we’re down in Long Beach, but the beach in general, eh. I love New York, and I consider myself an East Coast person. But I really appreciate Austin. The minute I step on the soil there, there’s the sound of the cicadas and a smell of the wet earth that harmonizes my body. I don’t want to talk about how much I love it because I don’t want anyone else to move there!”

As for The Proposal, it is scheduled to open June 19 and co-stars Ryan Reynolds.
