Let the speculation begin! Though some celebrity announcements have already been made for SXSW 2025 (see list here), many are still to come. And there are some major stars linked to films that are set to premiere at the festival. Read on to see who we’re most excited about.

Here are the biggest celebrities who may be coming to SXSW 2025!

Seth Rogan

As a Producer of Joyride, Rogan attended SXSW in 2023 so surely he will attend this year as he produces, directs and stars a film making its world premiere. Back then, we had the most fun with him on the red carpet doing our Texas This or That interview, which you can watch here. His current project is called The Studio and it also stars Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders and Kathryn Hahn.

Ben Affleck

No stranger to Austin (he filmed Hypnotic in the ATX in 2022), Affleck produces and stars in The Accountant 2. The sequel also stars Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson and J.K. Simmons.

Paul Rudd

We crossed paths with Rudd when he premiered I Love You Man at SXSW 2009. Here’s hoping we see him again when Death of a Unicorn screens at the fest. Jenna Ortega also stars in the film as well as Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani and Jessica Hynes.

Rudd also stars in Friendship with Tim Robinson, Kate Mara and Jack Dylan Grazer.

Nicole Kidman

We never got a Kidman sighting during Love and Death filming, a project which she produced. Hopefully, we’ll see her at the world premiere of Holland. The cast also includes Matthew Macfadyen, Jude Hill and Gael García Bernal.

Kate Mara

Mara has three projects premiering at the festival, so there’s a good chance we’ll see her in attendance. In The Astronaut, she co-stars with Laurence Fishburne and Austin native Gabriel Luna. You can also see her in The Dutchman and Friendship with Paul Rudd.

Nicolas Cage

Another celeb who’s no stranger to SXSW, Cage stars in The Surfer about a man who returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. He’s then humiliated by a group of powerful locals and drawn into a conflict that pushes him right to his breaking point.

Kieran Culkin

Award season darling Kulkin stars in the animated series #1 Happy Family USA. And that’s not all. The project also features the voices of Ramy Youssef, Mandy Moore, Chris Redd, Alia Shawkat, Akaash Singh, Salma Hindy, Whitmer Thomas and Randa Jarrar.

Dennis Quaid

As a one time Austin resident and Texas native it would make sense for Quaid to attend in support of the film Happy Face. Inspired by a true-life story, Happy Face tells the story of Melissa Reed, daughter of Keith Jesperson, aka the Happy Face Killer. The cast also includes: Annaleigh Ashford, James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne and Benjamin Mackey.

David Oyelowo

Acclaimed British-American actor David Oyelowo stars in Government Cheese. The surrealist family comedy set in 1969 tells the story of a quirky family pursuing lofty and impossible dreams, beautifully unfettered by the realities of the world.

Mark Wahlberg

Wahlberg isn’t starring in anything screening a the fest, but he is a producer on Spy High. The documentary focuses on 15-year-old Blake Robbins. When he was accused of selling drugs, he filed a lawsuit alleging that his prestigious high school was spying on him. This fed a wild scandal with revelations that echo in the war over digital privacy in schools today.
