It’s definitely official now! Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are dating and they don’t care who knows about it. After working together on Broadway’s The Music Man from 2021 through January of 2023, the pair each split from their spouses. Following much speculation that the Broadway stars are in a relationship, it’s now obvious they are together. Pictures posted on People.com show the couple strolling hand in hand in Santa Monica.
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster Confirm Relationship With Night Out in LA
Just days prior, Jackman was spotted at one of Foster’s final performances of Once Upon a Mattress at Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre. He was seated by Carol Burnett and seen snapping photos or video of the legend.
Jackman and ex-wife Deborra-lee Furness issued a joint statement in September 2023 announcing their split after 27 years of marriage. Meanwhile, Foster filed for divorce in October from husband Ted Griffin following 10 years of marriage. Previously she was wed to fellow Broadway star Christian Borle.
On January 6, their relationship was confirmed as the two stepped out hand-in-hand for a casual dinner date in Santa Monica. He was dressed in white trousers, a gray tee and black zip-up jacket, while she was sporting a green dress and camel trench style coat.
Chemistry Between Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster
The chemistry between the two was obvious to anyone who saw them together in The Music Man, including yours truly. Spill the ATX was lucky to catch a show in July of 2022. We scored last minute tickets on Today Tix for under $100!
As huge fans of the TV series Younger, we were also excited to cross paths with Sutton Foster in Austin in 2018. The cast of the TV Land series was on hand for a screening of a new episode followed by a Q&A at the ATX TV Festival. When the cast was asked about pranks on the set, Miriam Shore told the audience that Foster likes to say “balls” in the middle of scenes to make her laugh. Moments later, Foster interrupted her mid sentence by randomly saying, “Balls.”
Jackman is known to be a joker as well. He and his Deadpool & Wolverine costar Ryan Reynolds have been famously trolling each other for years. The Aussie told People, “It’s gone back so long now … God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone too long, where you don’t even know why or how it started.” It sounds like it may have started while Reynolds was still married to Jackman’s fellow Marvel star Scarlett Johansson.
Perhaps humor is just one of the things that further bonds the two Tony winners.
