Alamo Drafthouse

The Baker School, which you may recognize as East Dillon High on Friday Night Lights, is the new headquarters for Alamo Drafthouse. ATXgossip got a little peak inside thanks to Fons PR which rents an office in the building.

The Baker School opened in Hyde Park in 1911, functioning as a public middle and high school until the 1980s, when AISD began using it for administrative offices. In 2019, Tim and Karrie League purchased the 3.35-acre property and began a costly restoration of the building to turn it into the Alamo Drafthouse headquarters.

In season 4 of Friday Night Lights, the school served as a stand-in for the newly reopened East Dillon High. Coach Taylor takes on the job of establishing a football program at the poorly-funded high school after falling out with parents and admin at Dillon High. The season follows the uphill battle of the East Dillon Lions football team, which ultimately defeats their cross-town rival.
