SXSW is inching closer and closer and some big things have already been announced. From marquee films to celebrity speakers and rocking events, here’s what we are most looking forward to!
The Most Exciting Things Happening At SXSW 2026
Drew Brees
The Super Bowl MVP-winning quarterback and Austin native will speak about flag football and the sport’s forthcoming debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Brené Brown
The author and wearer of many hats will take part in programming at the Vox Media Podcast Stage.
Brian
An acerbic high school student prone to panic attacks runs for class president to get closer to the teacher he’s hopelessly in love with. The film is packed with stars, including Ben Wang, William H. Macy, Edi Patterson, Randall Park, Natalie Morales and more.
Family Movie
Directed and produced by Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, along with their children Sosie Bacon and Travis Bacon, we’re sure to get some celebrity sightings at this premiere. The cast includes all of the Bacons as well as Austin native, Austin Amelio.
I Love Boosters
The Boots Riley film makes its world premiere on opening night of the festival. It stars Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter and Demi Moore.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles
The David E. Kelly series will also screen on opening night of the festival. Surely some of the star studded cast will be on hand, including Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, Nicole Kidman, Greg Kinnear and Marcia Gay Harden.
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice
Another world premiere happening at the festival, this hilarious, stylized, R-rated action-comedy stars Vince Vaughn, James Marsden and more.
Over Your Dead Body
A dysfunctional couple head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other. The cast includes Samara Weaving, Jason Segel, Timothy Olyphant and Juliette Lewis.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come
The sequel to the 2019 film makes its world premiere, hopefully with some of the cast in attendance. This includes Samara Weaving, Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood.
Rider Strong
The podcaster and actor, perhaps best known for his role on Boy Meets World, will take part in a round table on acting with fellow participants Alexandra Barreto and Alyssa Rodriguez.
Seekers of Infinite Love
After learning their youngest sister has joined a traveling cult, three estranged siblings must come together to find and bring her back. The cast includes Hannah Einbinder, Justin Theroux, Griffin Gluck, Justine Lupe and Greg Kinnear.
Sips & Sounds Music Festival
Coca-Cola’s Sips & Sounds Music Festival is happening during SXSW 2026. Headliners include Christina Aguilera and Calvin Harris, along with other major acts like Major Lazer Soundsystem, Foster the People, GROUPLOVE and more.
The Sun Never Sets
Dakota Fanning, Jake Johnson, Debby Ryan and more star in this narrative spotlight film making its world premiere.
They Will Kill You
A high-octane horror-action-comedy, this film features a cast that’s no stranger to SXSW. Star Zazie Beetz spoke to us on the red carpet in 2025. The film co-stars Myha’La, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham and Patricia Arquette.
