ACL Music Fest

After 15 years of ACL Music Festival I still can’t stand to miss a thing. Last year I once again attended all six days of the festival. The fest did not disappoint. Before we head back down to Zilker Park for this year’s event (happening October 6 through 8 and 13 through 15, 2023), I’m reflecting on everything I loved about last year’s star studded festival.

Here are the best things we saw and did at ACL Music Festival 2022!

Austin Kiddie Limits Returns

Not only are kids welcomed at the Austin City Limits Festival, they have their own section at the festival, complete with live music, craft activities, yoga, and tons more. The area took a coupld of years off (most likely due to covid) but now, Austin Kiddie Limits is back! You’ll want to be sure to take full advantage and wear those kiddos out as much as possible before your favorite headliners take the stage.

Kacey Musgraves’ Everything Is Bigger in Texas Hair

Keeping It Local

From the food vendors to the side stage vendors and the artisan market, you can find all kinds of local representation at the fest!

Discovering New to Us Artists like Conan Gray, Sofi Tukker and Cimafunk.

Here’s a bit more on three of our favorite acts we saw at the fest for the very first time.

Indie pop artist Conan Gray hails from Georgetown, Texas. With a combination of style, stage presence, catchy tunes, and strong vocals, we are positive that this kid (and his all girl band) is going places.

While we weren’t really familiar with the dance electronic duo Sofi Tukker, we did recognize some of their beats. That’s because a few of their songs are featured in video games, TV shows and a very memorable iPhone commercial. Their set had us jumping with joy and the crowd was giving us Lizzo vibes (meaning it was wall to wall).

Cuban musician Cimafunk is known for mixing funk and hip hop with Cuban and Afro-Caribbean music. During his set at the Tito’s stage, he pulled fans onto the actual stage to share the love. While some of us simply danced and cheered, others grabbed instruments like maracas and a cowbell. An Austin City Limits Festival wristband may not be cheap, but dancing on stage with a band at ACL is priceless.
