Here Are The Top 5 Things to Do and See in Taylor Texas
Grab BBQ
This one’s a no brainer. One of the best barbecue spots in the area is located in Taylor. Louie Mueller Barbecue has been operating since 1949 and has been honored by the James Beard Foundation with an American Classics award.
Go Antiquing
If you’re looking for a deal, make sure to stop in at some of the antique stores around town. There’s nothing more satisfying than hunting through the thrift to find your treasure. Here are a few of the pop culture inspired hems we found!
Visit Old Taylor High
We love when a community takes an old building and repurposes it. Old Taylor High is a unique shopping destination that combines the charm of history with modern convenience and style. Built in 1923, the former high school pays homage to its educational roots while providing visitors with an unparalleled shopping experience. It’s pretty cool to reminisce about your own school experience while walking the halls and then popping in for a beer at the Loose Screw. Fun fact: the locale was used as a filming location in the CW series Walker.
Hang at Heritage Square Park
Located in the heart of downtown Taylor, Heritage Square is the home of many family friendly events like Music on Main and a weekly farmer’s market. There’s also a splash pad for the kiddos to cool off. Fun fact: scenes from the Ben Affleck film Hypnotic were reportedly filmed here and across the way at Pierce Park Skate Park. We were not able to identify these shots in the the film, however.
Speaking of filming locations, other projects that were filmed in and around Taylor include: Fear the Walking Dead, Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). There’s also an image in the opening credits of the Friday Night Lights TV series that was shot in downtown Taylor.
Support Local Downtown Taylor Businesses
