A handful of years ago, I lived in Los Angeles. It was the best time of my life and I had some great experiences there. I moved when I was about 25, and I found a gorgeous condo with a beach view. It was stunning and as soon as I saw the house, I knew I had to live in LA. When I got a new job, I had to find a company that could sell homes palm springs. I told them that I wanted to sell my house as quickly as possible and they sorted the whole process for me. I’m sad that I don’t live in LA anymore, but at least I experienced it!
When I left the land of beautiful beaches, amazing sunsets and all-around pretty people, I made a list of the top 10 reasons LA is, like, totally awesome.
This is that long lost list.
1. The weather
Enough said.
2. You can simply walk onto a working television/ movie lot
Of course, you’ll need an appointment or an admission ticket. But, if you’re really lucky, you can find work on one like I did.
3 – The wide array of places to get a good Old Fashioned
I have determined the Old Fashioned at the Dresden is best. You’re welcome.
4 – Style is always in fashion
Whether it’s your style or not, you gotta love people who aren’t afraid to let their fashion flag fly!
5 – All the filming locations
It’s West Bev! It’s Sunnydale! Nope, it’s just Torrance High.
6 – Celebrity sightings
I believe Michael Buble is photobombing ME.
You may not recognize her without a wig, but that’s Sia.
Hopped off a plane at LAX… and immediately spotted Questlove!
I’m officially one degree from Kevin Bacon.
7 – Great concert venues
This includes many I have been to like the Hollywood Bowl, the Wiltern, the Fonda, Hotel Cafe, Avalon, Saban, the Viper Room, Largo at the Coronet and even a JT/Jimmy Kimmel concert in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard. Of course, there are the venues I never even got to experience but would like to someday: El Rey, the Greek, Whiskey, the Roxy…
8 – Amazing theaters and playhouses
This includes the Chinese Theater, Orpheum, the Los Angeles, Arclight and the Cinerama Dome, The Pantages, Mark Taper, Ahmanson, Club Nokia, Theatre Row Hollywood, the Rockwell, the Hayworth and so many more. Plus, where else can you watch a classic film in a cemetery and snap a picture like this?
9 – Roadtrips
From Santa Barbara to the OC, Palm Springs, San Diego and, my all-time fave, VEGAS!
10 – Griffith Park
The old zoo, the actual zoo, the observatory, Shakespeare in the Park, the Holiday Light Festival, the LA Haunted Hayride and more… this park is full of possibilities.
The old bear caves provide an eery backdrop for Shakespeare in the Park.
And, because we always need one to grow on…
11 – All the photo ops
Only in Hollywood is there a step and repeat at the Walgreens!
