The Spy Kids reboot has officially wrapped filming in Austin. Texas Director Robert Rodriguez made the announcement that Sky Kids wrapped on his Instagram at the end of August. The Netflix project doesn’t have a release date yet but we hope to get one soon. In the meantime, here’s what we do know about Sky Kids: Armageddon.

The Plot:

The reboot is called Spy Kids: Armageddon and the movie focuses on a new family of spies. Here’s the official synopsis:

When the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, they must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world.

The Cast:

The parents are played by Jane The Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez and Shazam star Zachary Levi. The new generation of Spy Kids are played by Yes Day’s Everly Carganilla and newcomer Connor Esterson.

We’re sure with Robert Rodriguez at the helm there will be some great guest appearances or maybe even some original cast cameos. We haven’t heard anything and we didn’t see anyone while they were filming but that doesn’t it mean it didn’t happen!

The Filming Locations:

We know they shot at a neighborhood in Round Rock, Krause Springs in Spicewood and locations throughout downtown Austin. Apparently, they might have used a house in Westlake as well. On Saturday, August 13 they were spotted filming a chase scene near the Capitol at Congress Avenue and we saw them filming scenes in a park in the Mueller neighborhood.

We’ll be sure to Spill the aTx as soon as we have more details. Until then, make sure to follow us on Instagram and check back often for any updates!
