The cast of the ode to 80’s childhood adventure The Goonies reunited for an online event, thanks to Josh Gad. Created as a fundraiser for The Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Gad was able to round up the entire cast to take part. Yep, all seven of the Goonies were there. We’re talking Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan, Jeff Cohen, Martha Plimpton and Kerri Green!
And, as if that wasn’t enough, the Fratelli Brothers also joined, as did Director Richard Donner and writers Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg.
And let’s not forget about Cyndi Lauper who penned the theme song “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough.” She was there too!
It was epic, just like the original movie.
And speaking of the original movie, when asked if there would be a sequel, Spielberg cleared things up by saying they just haven’t been able to find an idea that’s better than the original film from the 80s.
So there you have it. We’re just gonna have to keep watching the original over and over.
Here are a few other fun things we learned during the 30 minute gathering:
No one has ever yelled “Andy, you Goonie” at Kerri Green. Honestly, I’m shocked by this.
Columbus had originally planned to set the film in Ohio, his home state.
Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood both visited the site.
And directing this film nearly drove Richard Donner insane. At least that’s how it seemed based on the stories told in this reunion. In fact, I think he may still be suffering.

I actually made a trip out to Astoria, Oregon at the beginning of this year so stay tuned to ATXgossip.com for all of the filming locations of The Goonies coming soon!
