Hulu dropped the trailer for The Testaments, the much anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. I must say, it’s a bit disappointing.
The Testaments Premieres on Hulu on April 8, 2026
While Margaret Atwood wrote The Handmaid’s Tale in the 80s, The Testaments was released in 2019. Though it’s not as strong of a story as the original, I did enjoy the book. I’m not getting many feels from the trailer, though. I fear that by stretching the story out to create 10 episodes, it may be a bit slow and anti-climactic.
Watch the trailer and decide for yourself.
About The Testaments
Set 15 years after The Handmaid Tale, it follows three character: Aunt Lydia (whom you surely remember from the series), Agnes (eldest daughter of June and Luke) and Daisy (a young woman living in Canada who is revealed to be Baby Nicole, the child smuggled out in the original series). The story examines the inner workings of Gilead, the rise of a new generation with no memory of the “before times” and the inevitable collapse of totalitarian systems. The novel won the 2019 Booker Prize and was noted for being a “chilling” and powerful continuation of the Handmaid’s Tale universe.
The Testaments will launch on Hulu and Disney+ on April 8 with the first three episodes. Weekly releases will follow,
