You may recognize Fionnula Flanagan (pictured above) from various projects including Lost, The Others and, my personal favorite, The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (she played Teensy). Her latest project, When Angels Sing, premieres at SXSW on March 10.
The film, which I previewed in a post about director Elizabeth Avellan, is a heartfelt holiday tale. I’m a sucker for those warm and fuzzy feeling films that pop up on the Lifetime and Oxygen Networks around Christmas. This one did not disappoint, especially since it was shot in Austin and employed many familiar faces.
Though Fionnula isn’t listed on the film’s red carpet itinerary, I assume she will attend based on her final answer to our ten totally Texan questions.
#1 – What is your favorite movie and/or TV show shot in Texas?
“When Angels Sing – of course!”
#2 – Who is your favorite Texas musician?
“Willie Nelson.”
#3 – What actor would you classify as “totally Texan?”
“Kris Kristofferson.”
#4 – Answer one of the following and tell us why: Cowboys or Texans? Spurs or Mavs? Astros or Rangers?
“Is this a trick question? I suspect it has something to do with sports about which I know nothing. I only play poker.”
#5 – What is your favorite Texas food item?
“They make the best coffee and sliders there.”
#6 – If you didn’t work in film, what would you be doing?
“If I could get over my fear of heights I’d be an international jewel thief.”
#7 – Who would play you in the movie of your life?
“The family dog – the only one who knew what was really going on.”
#8 – What’s your theme song?
“Love’s Old Sweet Song.”
#9 – What projects will you be working on in 2013?
“I am in a new series called DEFIANCE which premieres on the Sy-Fy Chanel on April 15.”
#10 – What are you most looking forward to at SXSW?
“Hearing some great music, drinking coffee and eating sliders with friends. Seeing some good movies too.”
The most precious part about her email response was her sign off. “Best wishes for a great Festival! Fionnula.” she wrote. How cute is that?
When Angels Sing screens Monday, March 10, at The Paramount at 3:30pm.
