The USGP is fast approaching and we couldn’t be more excited for another year of F1 racing in Texas. That’s why we put together this guide highlighting everything you need to know about race weekend.

What Are the Track Specifics and Layout?

The Circuit of The Americas permanent racing facility in Austin opened on October 21, 2010. The circuit has hosted the Formula One United States Grand Prix 11 times since 2012. F1 legends Lewis Hamilton (2012, 2014-2017) and Max Verstappen (2021-2023) have won this race eight of the 11 times it has been held in the Lone Star State.

The FIA Grade 1 COTA track is made of asphalt and was designed by former German F1 driver Hermann Tilke, along with Tavo Hellmund and Kevin Schwantz, the architects of a number of tracks worldwide on the F1 circuit. The COTA course length is 3.426 miles (5.513 km) and the distance of the 56-lap race is 191.634 miles (308.405 km) with 20 turns.

Charles Leclerc of Monaco holds the COTA track lap record with a 1:26.169 in 2019 driving his Ferrari SF90. Here’s the track layout:

Who Won The 2023 US Grand Prix?

At the US Grand Prix 2023, Red Bull Racing-Honda BPT team member Max Verstappen won the race for a third consecutive year. The Dutch sensation has also won the F1 Drivers’ championship the last three seasons. He will likely be the oddsmaker’s favorite to win again in Austin this October.

It was the 18th round of F1 racing, and the fifth Grand Prix last year using the Sprint format. Verstappen won both the Sprint and the main race. Finishing second in the main race was Lewis Hamilton, but the British F1 icon was disqualified for having an excessively worn skid block.
