Most Likely to Murder

Who wouldn’t want to see a movie described as, “A coming home for the holidays stoner murder mystery?” That’s how director/ co-writer Dan Gregor sums up his SXSW film Most Likely to Murder.

Here’s a more detailed description:

Billy, the coolest kid in high school, comes back to his hometown 15 years later to find he’s no longer cool and the girl he still has feelings for now dates the former town outcast. So, Billy becomes obsessed with proving the outcast is actually the killer behind a mysterious local death.

The film stars Adam Pally, Rachel Bloom and Vincent Kartheiser, who will all be in attendance at the film’s SXSW world premiere.

We asked Gregor what attracted him to the project (unaware that he had written the story).

I thought my parents would let me shoot it at their house. I was wrong,” he replied.

What he’s not wrong about is what he said he’s most looking forward to in Austin.

“La Barbecue!”

This will be his Gregor’s first time at SXSW. To get him in the Texas mindset, we sent over our totally Texas questions.

What is your favorite movie and/ or TV show shot in Texas?

“Rushmore. Am I a complete cliche for saying Rushmore?”

Who is your favorite Texas musician?

“Roy Orbison, for sure. But, also, maybe not for sure, cause, you know… Beyonce.”

What actor would you call “totally Texan?”

“Dabney Coleman.”

What Texas food are you most looking forward to eating (and perhaps instagramming) while in Austin?

“I will happily give La Barbecue as my answer to two questions.”

What advice do you have for Austinites looking to get into the biz?

“Start a really awesome Instagram account for your dog. Nobody in Hollywood wants to read scripts, but they’ll happily get to know you through your dog photos.”

In that case, there are a lot of Austinites headed for stardom.
