As more and more television, film and production companies threaten to pull out of Georgia over their proposed anti-abortion ban, ATXgossip can’t help but ponder: what will happen to The Walking Dead?

With set designers, make up artists and other crew already in place, it makes perfect sense that the production would relocate to Austin. Sure, season 5 production of Fear the Walking Dead is shortly coming to close, but we’ve already heard rumor that AMC will be back to shoot season 6 right here in the ATX.

Netflix was the first to threaten to cease production in states where so-called heartbeat bills have either been passed or are already in effect. On Wednesday, Walt Disney followed suit and by Thursday, NBCUniversal, WarnerMedia, Sony Pictures, CBS and its Showtime division all issued statements saying states’ anti-abortion laws would affect the studios’ decision-making when it comes to selecting locations for production.

According to a Forbes article published this morning, AMC issued this statement:

“If this highly restrictive legislation goes into effect, we will reevaluate our activity in Georgia,” said a spokesperson. “Similar bills — some even more restrictive — have passed in multiple states and have been challenged. This is likely to be a long and complicated fight and we are watching it all very closely.”

In addition to TWD, television series’ that shoot in Georgia include Ozark, The Resident, Stranger Things, Legacies, Black Lightning, MacGyver and Dynasty.
