‘Tis the season to see a movie!

Christmas time is the best time to catch a movie in the theater. And so many entertaining and endearing stories have hit the big screen.

Here’s a list of each movie (currently in theaters) that we’ve seen and what we think you should see as well.

Of course, we haven’t had a chance to see everything. So, first off, here are the films (all award nominated) we haven’t yet seen but plan to:

The Greatest Showman, All the Money in the World, Lady Bird, The Disaster Artist, Darkest Hour, The Shape of Water, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Call Me By Your Name.

If you’ve seen any of the above, please let us know what YOU thought about the film.

We would be particularly interested to hear your thoughts about Call Me By Your Name. This film details a gay love affair and has taken the world by storm partly thanks to an intimate sex scene involving a peach that could rival some of the films you might find on an adult website like fuckedgay.xxx. Raunchy scenes to one side, LGBT+ love stories are not often covered in Hollywood, so we are excited to hear whether you think that this film is a positive step in the right direction.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff.

Daddy’s Home 2

Gotta be honest, y’all, I did NOT think I would like Daddy’s Home 2. But it gave me the Christmas Vacation vibe and I legitimately liked it. That’s high praise coming from me (I have cats named Rusty Griswold and Mr. Pappagiorgio). Will Ferrell is Clark Griswold and everything is better with Mark Wahlberg. Plus, there’s a singing scene in the film which can’t be missed. Marky Mark on the mic once more? Be still my heart!

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

This Jumanji re-boot is highly entertaining. Having not seen the original, I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was well written, so well cast and brought lots of laughs. I laughed way more than I expected to. Of course, Jack Black and Kevin Hart had everything to do with that!

Only the Brave

Only playing in limited capacity at this point, Only the Brave is a powerful story with a great cast, including Austinite Taylor Kitsch. Intense and exhilarating, peppered with humor and so much emotion. this film is a real ass kicker!

Pitch Perfect 3

Not quite as good as the first but definitely better than the second. It was fun to see the gals back on screen. There’s not much to say about this one. It’s everything you expect it to be, so if you are a fan of the series, you will be pleased. And the fact that they sing a Britney Spears tune was definitely a highlight for me.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

I enjoyed it. I did! But I can’t decide if I liked The Force Awakens better. Sure, it served as our re-entry to the Star Wars universe, but, as many have pointed out, the storyline was much like A New Hope. And perhaps my hopes were too high for this film? I really need to see it again to form a more balanced opinion. In the meantime, please share your thoughts on the film in the comments below. I love hearing other perspectives (believe it or not). Unless you want to complain about the porgs. Take those comments elsewhere. #porglover

Thor Ragnarok

I may be a bit biased here because Chris Hemsworth is absolutely gorgeous talented. Yeah, uh huh, it’s his talent that does it for me. The Thor series never disappoints and the humor is definitely on point in this one. Plus, Hemsworth cuts his hair for this film. Uh, oh, I’m talking about his looks again, aren’t I? #sorrynotsorry

Wonder

Wonder is the feel good movie of the holiday season! #Choosekind is so needed at this time of year, at this time in our country, at this time in our lives. While critics raved about Julia Roberts, it may be Texan Owen Wilson’s best work yet. And Jacob Tremblay is a joy.

Wonder Wheel

The Woody Allen film features a well rounded cast that includes Kate Winslet, Jim Belushi and Justin Timberlake. With drama, humor and theatrics, Wonder Wheel is like watching a 1950’s play come to life.
