Blake Lively

Another Simple Favor will open the SXSW Film and TV Festival 2025 and fans are making their feelings known on social media. While many mention supporting star Anna Kendrick, they are also commenting that they are not at all excited about co-star Blake Lively. In case you have been living under a rock, Lively is currently embroiled in a very public sexual harrassment/ slander lawsuit with her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

Following the backlash to the announcement, or perhaps as a preemptive strike, Entertainment Tonight posted this statement from director Paul Feig.

What People Are Saying About Blake Lively and Another Simple Favor

Here are just a few of the comments made on the post from ET.

“he knows the movie is about to flop. justice for anna kendrick – she deserves better.” – @laurmariex3

“LIES!! He just wants people to see his movie so it doesn’t flop. Sorry dude, why would we ever watch anything she’s in? No thank you!” – @forgotten_username_855

“Wow, that doesn’t sound coerced… hope the check cleared.” – @cnbryson

SXSW 2025

In a post from SXSW announcing the film, one commenter went so far as to say the following…

“C’mon now. Are you kidding me? With all due respect to Mr Feig and the glorious Anna Kendrick (who I love), I’ll be boycotting this one. They have put themselves in the unfortunate position of having made a film with the most insufferable celebrities on the planet, who a lot of people mistakenly believe is a “mean girl.” Blake Lively ain’t no mean girl. She’s so beyond that she’s even gone past Cruella DeVille territory into a whole other universe of vile, toxic and predatory. Just check out Justin Baldoni’s incontrovertible receipts.”

Directed by Paul Feig, the highly anticipated follow up to A Simple Favor, sees the return of Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, with Henry Golding and Allison Janney.

SXSW runs from March 7 through 14, 2025 which means this film will premiere on Friday, March 7.
