Gladys Knight Chicken and Waffles

When we get a hankering for some chicken and waffles, we sure wish we could board that midnight train to Georgia and head on over to Gladys Knight Chicken and Waffles.

OK, so it’s not just her name on the marquee, but she’s the only name we use when referring to it.

The singer developed her midtown Atlanta restaurant with Ron Winans and her son Shanga Hankerson, who continues to run the joint. At the now three locations, one can dine on fried green tomatoes, catfish sliders, sassy BBQ turkey wings, and Southern fare like mac and cheese, collard greens, grits, corn muffins and a signature dish called The Midnight Train (four southern fried jumbo chicken wings and one Original waffle ).

In June, TMZ reported that the chain was raided with Hankerson at the center of an investigation where authorities believe he mishandled $1 million. Knight later made a statement that she simply lent her name to the chain and has no involvement in the restaurants’ operations

Luckily, however, Gladys Knight Chicken and Waffles is still operating. For now, anyway.

Get it while you can.
