In September 2020, Dawson’s Creek alum James Van Der Beek and wife Kimberly packed up their family and moved to Central Texas. The move from Los Angeles to the Austin area was well documented by the couple on Instagram.
The family of eight live on a ranch in Spicewood and, apparently, they love living in the Lone Star State. Just look how Texan JVDB looks in these pics he shared on IG.
“We wanted to get the kids out of Los Angeles,” James told Austin Life in July 2021. Kimberly chimed in saying, “It came from desire, it came from dreams … and by the time we left L.A., we were in a deep [state of] gratitude for everything it had given us.”
When asked what they’ve enjoyed about life in Texas so far, Kimberly said, “Everyone looks out for each other here.” James then added, “I do really feel looked out for. And to be able to show that to our kids and how we help out and become part of that process. In addition to give them room to run and ride, it’s been amazing. “
We ran into the Varsity Blues star at the Beyond Van Gogh event out at COTA in 2021. If you missed that event, you may want to look into the Sistine Chapel exhibit happening this summer!
Speaking of Varsity Blues, did you know it was shot right here in Austin (and beyond)? You can learn more about all of the filming locations right here!
