The Southern Charm spinoff Southern Hospitality will finally premiere on Bravo on Monday, November 28, 2022. The reality series sounds a lot like Vanderpump Rules as it focuses on Leva Bonaparte as she manages Charleston’s larger-than-life staff at Republic Garden & Lounge.
However, Leva says the series is more like Below Deck.
“When you’re on deck at Republic, there’s no time for dillydallying and all that. It’s chaos. It’s hundreds of people [and] it’s high liability. It’s keeping people safe, it’s keeping the experience elevated,” Leva told The Daily Dish. “It’s actually far more like Below Deck to me, in terms of the adrenaline of the business.”
We popped by Republic on our most recent visit to Charleston and chatted with cast member Will Kulp. When asked if people were hired specifically for the series, Will assured us that they were not, saying working at a locale like Republic is something you can’t fake!
The Southern Hospitality bar Republic Garden & Lounge is located on King Street in Charleston, SC.
After enjoying a drink at Republic, we wandered down the street, stopping in at Craig Conover’s store Sewing Down South and then checking out one of Leva’s other bars, Bourbon N’ Bubbles. Cast member Grace Lilly works there.
Clearly, the majority of the filming takes place at Republic Garden & Lounge, though the cast also take some trips as well as visit other local bars and events. In the season trailer, we spotted the downtown bar The Griffon.
We also know there will be a fun birthday party for Leva happening this season that our pal Lawson Roberts produced. There will be an ice luge and Joe Bradley on hand posing as Dr. Hangover. Instead of liquor, he’ll be administering shots of Pedialyte!
Republic will be hosting a premiere party at the bar that’s open to the public. Cast members will be in attendance, of course, and we’re hoping to see a few of our Southern Charm faves as well. Keep an eye on the bar’s Instagram account!
Speaking of Southern Charm faves, we recently ran into Shep Rose in Austin. We asked if he’d soon be shooting another show there. He hinted that the network is interested so let’s keep our fingers crossed for that!
