So you want to experience Charleston like the gang on Southern Charm, do you? Well, we’ve got 10 ways you can do just that.
When planning your trip to the Holy City, make sure you leave enough time to hit up the spots most featured on the Bravo series.
From locales mentioned and featured on the show to places the gang have been spotted and shared pics of on Instagram, this is how you can experience Charleston like a Southern Charmer.
Who knows, you may even spot a cast member.
Here’s How to Experience Charleston Like Southern Charm!
Republic Garden & Lounge
If you’ve watched Southern Charm since the beginning, you know that the first couple of seasons featured many a drunken evening at Republic.
I believe it’s also where Shep and Austen got into a heated argument over Chelsea in season four.
Halls Chophouse
The Southern Charm gang loves Halls Chophouse, as does just about everyone else in Charleston.
No matter who you are, everyone is treated like they’re somebody at Halls. It’s southern hospitality at its finest.
Our pal Lawson Roberts, the official party planner for the Bravo series, has spotted numerous other celebrities at the Charleston hot spot as well. Here’s just one from his Instagram feed.
The Commodore
We checked out Shep’s newest venture, The Commodore, on a recent trip back to the Holy City. I must say, it could very well be my favorite place to end an evening, as illustrated by what I posted on IG.
Palace Hotel
One of Shep’s other business ventures is the Palace Hotel. The funky dive bar has been mentioned numerous times on the show. It may also serve as the original source of inspiration for Shep Gear, as one of the first produced hats featured the bar’s logo.
Now, the brand offers a variety of styles, including this one that I purchased at Two Cumberland on King Street.
Shem Creek
Other than Halls, the place we’ve spotted the cast most often is at Shem Creek.
From Tavern and Table to Water’s Edge to Naomie’s family’s bar Saltwater Cowboys, Shem Creek is the best way to end your day with a view of the Ravenel Bridge and a beautiful sunset.
Nico
Naomie’s family also owns Nico, the French oyster bar located just across the way from Saltwater Cowboys. It was recently featured in a season five episode of the series when Naomie apologizes to Peyton after a horrendous encounter at her Halloween party at The Wreck.
Hit Up An Event
Charleston is always a happening city, but it’s even more exciting when there’s a festival going on. Get yourself into the Gwynn’s tent at Charleston Fashion Week and you’ll most likely find the entire cast. We’ve also spotted cast members at the Charleston Cup, The Cooper River Bridge Run and High Water Fest.
Home Team BBQ
Whether you venture over to the Sullivan’s Island location, West Ashley or the one on the peninsula, a good time will be had by all at Home Team.
Established in 2006, Home Team now has several restaurants in the Charleston area, one in Aspen, CO, and a booming catering business.
Be sure to get a game changer when you visit!
The Alley
The bar and bowling alley, aptly named The Alley, is one of Shep’s earliest ventures into the bar biz.
It’s also where we crossed paths with Cameron (who was taking part in a celebrity spelling bee).
Gwynn’s of Mt. Pleasant
The place to shop for designer labels is Gwynn’s of Mt. Pleasant. It’s been mentioned and featured numerous times over the years, but it got the most screen time in season five when Kathryn requested a job at the boutique.
And, of course, the mecca of Southern Charm filming locations is Patricia’s historic house, the Isaac Jenkins Mikell House, though there’s a wall surrounding it so you can’t get too close to the action. One can dream though.
