In the heart of downtown Las Vegas, you’ll find the Mob Museum. Officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, this unique institution sheds light on the dark and often glamorized world of the mob.
Housed in what was once the first federal structure in Las Vegas, it has served as the city’s main post office, federal courtroom and offices for various federal agencies. In 1950, the building cemented its role in history when the U.S. Senate’s Kefauver Committee held a hearing in the courtroom to question individuals about organized crime in Las Vegas.
Whether you’re a history buff, a crime enthusiast, or simply curious about the untold stories behind the glitz of Las Vegas, the Mob Museum provides a thought-provoking experience that uncovers the gritty realities behind the legends of the underworld.
The Real Highlight of the Mob Museum
That’s all fine and good, but the highlight of the museum for me is actually the speakeasy. Located in the basement of the museum, admission is included in Museum General Admission. However, if you just want to visit the speakeasy, you can! Get the password online and you’re in!
The drink menu includes refreshments like Giggle Water, Bee’s Knees, Old Fashioned, tasting flights of whiskey and moonshine and more!
Here’s a look inside the Mob Museum speakeasy.
