While he may best be known as Vincent Chase on the Mark Wahlberg produced HBO series Entourage, Adrian Grenier is also a musician who plays guitar, drums, French horn and piano, according to his Wiki page. He is a member of two New York bands, serving as the lead singer in Kid Friendly and the drummer in The Honey Brothers.
The multi-talented Grenier was in Austin for SXSW due to his involvement with Wreckroom Records. Started as a studio in his Brooklyn home, he and his partners allow bands to record songs and film videos for free.
According to a Spinner interview, the guys don’t charge bands for upfront cost, but do share in the back-end revenue. That means, if a band sells a song, Wreckroom profits too.
At SXSW, Wreckroom hosted three parties and 21 performances total. The events went down at Bourbon Girl, Dogwood and the W. Sadly, I was not able to make any of them, but I was lucky enough to spot Grenier heading out of Austin on Sunday.
If you want to learn more about the project, I suggest liking Wreckroom on facebook, where there’s a picture of Grenier in an Austin rooftop pool that teases a segment for Wreckroom.tv.
Don’t ask me how I managed to get a pic of Adrian Grenier looking right at me in the Austin airport.
